    The WtMG Jingles

For my infrequent Mountain Goats radio show WtMG (broadcasting live from the Mountain Goats Discord!) I designed some jingles to intro and outro the show. The vision for these was to contrast the past and present, because we listen to live Mountain Goats tapes on the show. It’s remarkable how many old tMG songs have evolved over the years, particularly with the addition of new bandmates, so the jingles use a fast-forward effect to transition between the old recordings and the new.

I also included the show name (thanks Matt!) and a clip of John Darnielle’s sort-of-catchphrase, the phrase he uses to open every show and the inspiration for the show name: “Hi, we’re the Mountain Goats!” Lastly, there’s references to other songs or favourite bits of stage banter thrown in to create a layered effect. The sound file below has the first six jingles that I created. Check ‘em out!

Radio Go!'s first episode launches today

It’s the start of something beautiful - episode number one! In this premiere episode Riley interviews Frank Abernathy, a vampire (Ash Routh). Plus, we read your comments and bring you the serious news. Listen now at radiogo.show or on your podcast player!

Mixing sketches, stories, songs, and stream-of-consciousness nonsense, Radio Go! is the silliest thing you’ll hear today. Set inside a radio station, the show sees host Riley Routh (The Tide) and producer Tom McGrath (Life’s a Pitch) invite a preposterous guest to join them. From there, absolutely anything can happen, and usually does.

This is a half-hour mixtape I put together, blending some of my favourite recent comedy bits with some of my favourite songs and some fun soundscape stuff too. I hope you enjoy it!
